DIGNITORIES AND STAKEHOLDERS THRONG THE NBA PRESIDENTS CONSULTATIVE DIALOGUE ON THE APRIL 2011 ELECTIONS

The long anticipated NBA President’s Consultative Dialogue on the State of Preparedness for the April 2011 Elections held on the 22nd of March 2011 at Sheraton Hotels and Towers with massive attendance from Security agencies, media, monitors, observers and other key stakeholders in the forthcoming Election. The Dialogue which is an initiative of the NBA President was organized with the following objectives
- Reviewing the State of Preparedness of INEC, Security Agencies, Political Parties, monitors, observers, the media and other stakeholders for the election.
- Identify preparation gaps and make recommendations for successful
Conduct of the April elections
- Foster an electoral environment conducive to peaceful, free and fair
Elections through the management and observation of the April elections.
- Promote issue based- campaigns.
The massively attended event was chaired by Former Head of State Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (Rtd.) GCFR. Keynote statements were given by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Prof. Attahiru Jega and the Hon. Attorney General of the Federation Mohammed Bello Adoke SAN. Past Presidents of the NBA Olisa Agbakoba SAN and Wole Olanipekun SAN were also in attendance and chaired the two working sessions at the Dialogue.
Other dignitaries in attendance include Mr Ita Ekpenyong Director General State Security Service, Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission Mr. Roland Ewubare, the Chairman Editorial Board, The Guardian Newspapers Reuben Abati, Festus Okoye, Chairman, Independent Election Monitoring Group and Dafe Akpedeye SAN Chairman of the NBA Election Working Group.
