Constitution Review Committee

The NBA Consitution Review Committee was inaugurated on the 7th of September 2010 by the President of the NBA Joseph Bodunrin Daudu SAN. The rapid growth of the Association over the years, the clear constitutional arrangement of the Federal Republic of Nigeria upon which the NBA ought to mirror its own structure, the compelling electoral reforms necessary to further stabilize the Bar and the need for expeditious mechanisms to assist in advancing the objectives of the Bar and its capacity to achieve them signaled for the amendment of the NBA Consitution.

Terms of reference of the Committee are as follows:


  1. To thoroughly study the NBA Constitution with a view to identify areas that require amendment aside from the ones already listed by the President and propose appropriate amendment to NEC for onward deliberation by the next AGM that will fully and comprehensively promote the aims and objectives of the Bar as set out in the said Constitution.
     
  2. To propose appropriate amendment in the areas pointed out in the President’s speech where the Constitution is lacking like the creation of States Bars, mode of electing leaders, the functions of the officers and the relationship between organs of the Bar.

     
  3. To have the amendments drafted in a form and ready for presentation to NEC as described above.
